Partnerships in Community Living

Partnerships in Community Living, Inc. is a nonprofit organization founded in 1986 with the mission to expand the horizons and enhance the quality of life for the people they support where they work, play, and live. Originally started in Polk County, Partnerships in Community Living has spread through several counties in the Willamette Valley, and in 2010 further expanded by adding a Southern Division, in Jackson and Josephine counties. Partnerships in Community Living’s organizational vision is to create and continually evolve as an agency that is the most person centered provider of services to individuals with developmental disabilities. They also strive to create the best training and consultation on issues related to developmental disabilities in America. It is their goal to be the preferred provider of these services and the quality standard by which others are measured.

From Salem to Eugene and Southern Oregon Partnerships in Community Living offers a large variety of services for people with developmental disabilities. Many people they support even receive multiple types of services and they cater to the specific needs and the Individualized Support Plan (ISP) of each person. An ISP is a written plan that details the support needs, activities, and resources that are important to each person’s unique preferences. A team that includes, and is often led by, that person meets often or as needed to determine goals for that person and then puts a plan in place on how to meet those goals.

Partnerships in Community Living realizes that “Services” can look different for everyone. PCL offers everything between 24 hour full time care in people’s homes to weekly visits and as needed. Their Direct Support Professionals are highly trained on everything from personal care and handling medicine, to grocery shopping, cooking, and balancing a budget. A lot of moving parts go with living a meaningful life. Partnerships in Community Living has teams that specialize in mental health and individual support needs.

They believe that all people should be contributing and inclusive members of their community. It is in line with their mission of expanding the horizons and enhancing the quality of life for those that they support; to help people find jobs and activities to be part of in their community.
